In the immediate vicinity of a small underground city, exists a famous rumor of a conductor responsible for children missing on Christmas. It's often said that it's his response to a certain company's late giving of the gifts. Taking in those who lost their joy to unmet wishes and never returning them home when time's past due.

The distinct bells and whistles of a steam-run locomotive were the only signs known of the conductor's arrival. Sounds once associated with wonders became nothing but mere reminders to hide. A homeless orphan boy who works extries by day took advantage of the silent streets to bring himself presents; a warm baked bread and a bottle of pure milk.

It was the only day he felt truly fulfilled, until a slip-up happened. Down on the railway, he was out of reach. Before the boy figured a way out, the clocktower's bell rang across the dim-lit station with a familiar horn following suit. A figure stood tall before his train blocking the illuminating light. His silhouette loomed over the boy who froze at sight.

The figure lent his hooves out to pull him up from the tracks and wondered why he would be at such an unexpected place. He introduced himself as "NT", hoping to ease the boy a little by exchanging information in a friendly manner. It was an unusual response for someone so cowered at by the public. Nonetheless, Chestnut was relieved.

Throughout the conversation, Chestnut couldn't help but feel... put off by his entire demeanor. He was hinting at his struggles, asking vulnerable questions in which the answers seemed to be known already.

He then offered a deal, one Chestnut couldn't resist.
His lies had tempted him.

Devil's Train is a titular grimdark Cookie Run AU revolving around not only Chestnut's experience, but also a myriad of others who fell victim to him.
